Cool Breeze

Cool Breeze

I recently visited Puerto Vallarta, a beach resort city located on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, with my family for vacation.

We initially also considered Cancun because it is a major world-renowned tourist destination and the most popular Mexican city among Korean-Canadians. However, since we have a 2-year-old daughter, we needed a resort that would be baby-friendly and we couldn’t find an appropriate resort in Cancun. We spent time looking for a resort that would suit our needs and found one in Puerto Vallarta. My wife booked the tickets via www.rhythmtravel2000.com. The website was very user friendly and easy to navigate.

Because our trip took place during Mexico’s rainy season, the weather didn’t look promising when we first arrived at our destination. Mexico’s rainy season generally runs from May to September. Some people avoid Mexico during the rainy season, but the rain lowers temperatures so the weather is not as unbearably hot as it may be otherwise. Also, it generally rains in the evening before the sunrise so very few days are rainy all day. Visiting Mexico during this time of the year is actually quite pleasant.

When we arrived at the resort, the view from the balcony was stunning and we were speechless. Since we had a long winter in Canada last year, this was exactly what we were looking for – a “get away from it all” vacation. :)

Panorama shot of Kid’s Paradise @ Crown Paradise Club. This resort is very family oriented. We couldn’t find any nice beach bodies there so it was worry free at the same time. :)

Beautiful Sunsets
Puerto Vallarta is also well known for its beautiful sunsets. There is nothing more peaceful and romantic than walking along the beach and taking some night time photography in Puerto Vallarta.

We booked a maternity photography session with a local photographer who only works during sunsets. Unfortunately, it rained on the day we were supposed to shoot and we weren’t able to book him for another day. So I decided to take maternity photographs of my wife during the last sunset of our Puerto Vallarta trip. Both my wife and my daughter look stunning in the picture.

Time-lapse Photography
Throughout the first 3 days of our trip, I took some time-lapse photography in different settings. The Time Lapse Shot feature on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS25 gives you the creative control to set the start time, interval for taking the images, and the number of pictures to shoot. Although I tried my best to keep the setting as manually as possible, I still notice some flickers during the time lapse.

Baby Hatchling Sea Turtles
One of the most amazing experiences we had in Puerto Vallarta was when we watched baby hatchling sea turtles head towards the sea. We were very lucky to hold these tiny lovely creatures in our hands and help them travel from the shore to the water. The organizers didn’t allow us to take photos with flash because it would blind the turtles and/or lead them to a wrong direction. I didn’t bring my camera at the moment but my wife was lucky enough to take some photos with her Samsung Galaxy Note II. It was truly a once in a life time experience. :)

Sea turtles
This sums up the first half of our Puerto Vallarta trip. My next post will provide you with more in-depth information and insight on things to do in Puerto Vallarta. Stay tuned!

감사합니다. :)
