지난 7월 26일, 토론토 성 김안드레아 성당에서는 에임 주최로 제3회 자선 음악회가 열렸습니다.
이번 행사에는 화음 트리오와 팝오페라 그룹 나리아가 클래식과 팝을 넘나드는 멋진 공연을 선보였습니다.
2013년 9월에 설립된 Autism in Mind는 자폐증 어린이들을 위한 프로그램 개발과 자폐증 자녀를 둔 가정에
대한 대중들의 인식을 높이고 수용하는 활동을 해왔습니다.
단체는 지난 몇 년 동안 여러 치료전문가와 개인들의 열정과 헌신으로 발전을 거듭해옴과 동시에 자원봉사자와
후원자, 기업후원금, 기금마련 행사 등을 통해 프로그램을 운영해 왔습니다.
이날 행사에는 프랭크 스카피티 마캄시장도 참석했는데요, 마캄시장은 축사를 통해 자폐증에 대한 인식을 커뮤니티에 올바르게 심어주는 중요성에 대해 강조했습니다.
다니엘 스미스씨는 아들의 이야기를 나누며 AIM의 프로그램을 통한 가족의 변천사를 소개하였습니다.
참가자들은 다니엘씨의 이야기를 통해 자폐증 자녀가 경험하는 감각감도와 그의 아들의 시선을 통한
세상을 이해하는 시간을 가지기도 했습니다.
이날 행사의 모든 수익금은 AIM의 사회적 기술 향상 프로그램과 집중 행동 개입 치료프로그램에 사용됩니다.
AIM은 부모 지원 네트워크 세션을 통해 비슷한 상황에 처한 다른 부모와의 교류를 넓히는 일도 하고 있는데요, AIM의 비전은 자폐아동에 대한 편견이 없는 세상을 만드는데 있습니다.
On July 26th, Autistm In Mind Children’s Charity held their 3rd annual fundraising concert in North York, at the St. Andrew Kim Catholic Church.
The event featured classical and pop opera performances by the Hwa-Eum Trio and NARIA.
Established in September 2013, Autism In Mind began with the mission of enhancing the lives of children with autism through support programs, and raising public awareness and acceptance for families living with autism.
The passion and dedication of a group of therapists and individuals has blossomed into an organization with programs fully managed by volunteers and funded by generous supporters, corporate grants and various fundraising events throughout the year.
Markham Mayor, Frank Scarpitti, also attended the event and shared a few words that emphasized the importance of raising awareness about autism in the community.
Daniel Smith shared his son’s story, and detailed the progress his family was able to experience through AIM’s programs. His story provided audiences with a glimpse of all the sensory sensitivities experienced by his son, and illustrated what the world looks like through his son’s eyes.
100% of the proceeds from AIM events are used towards AIM Children Charity’s Social Skills Program and IBI Therapy Program. AIM also provides Parent Support Networking sessions to help parents build connections with others dealing with similar experiences. AIM’s vision is to create an inclusive society with no barriers for children with autism.
