지난 12월 6일 갤러리아 수퍼마켓 쏜힐점 문화광장에서 ‘제8회 어린이 동요 부르기 대회’가 개최되었습니다. 캐나다 외환은행이 후원하고 갤러리아와 KCCM 한글학교가 주관한 이번 행사는 총 29팀이 참가하여 열띤 경연을 벌였습니다.
이 행사를 주최한 한글학교 박승락 교장은 “동요부르기 행사를 한인 2세 어린이들이 한국말과 동요에 대한 친근감을 불러 일으키는 좋은 행사가 되었다”고 전했습니다.
영예의 대상은 “우리들의 마법학교”를 부른 이승리양이 수상하였으며, 노스민스터 데이케어 센터 (Northminister Child Care Center)의 비한인 어린이 33명이 “텔리비전”, “옹달샘”, “올챙이와 개구리”를 메들리로 합창하여 특별상을 받았습니다. 이들은 비한인 어린이들임에도 불구하고 완벽하게 한국 동요와 율동을 선보여 많은 박수갈채를 받았씁니다.
이 밖에도 초등부, 유년부, 유치부에서 각각 금상2, 은상2, 동상2 총 18개 팀이 수상자로 선정되었습니다. 수상자들은 지난 13일 오후 3시에 다시 갤러리아 쏜힐점 문화광장에 모여 콘서트 및 시상식을 가졌습니다.
Sponsored by KEB Canada and hosted by Galleria and Korean School, a total of 29 teams participated in the competition. The principal of Korean School Seung Rak Park who hosted the event said:
“Children Singing Contest” was an event that brought the 2nd generation kids closer to their mother tongue.”
The grand prize went to Sung Ri Lee who sang Our Magic School, and the honorable mention went to 33 Non-Korean chorus group from Nortminister Child Care Center who sang a medley of “Television”, “Ongdal Sam”, and “Tadpole and frog”. The group garnered much praise for singing the Korean songs perfectly.
A total of 18 teams received medals: kindergarten, grade school, and middle school teams all respectively took 2 prizes each. The recipients took part in the award ceremony at Thornhill Gallerlia followed by a concert.
