올해로 제5회를 맞이한 토론토 아카데미 윈드 오케스트라 공연이 지난 12월 13일 토요일 오후 7시 캐나다 본한인교회에서 개최되었습니다.
현재 토론토 아카데미 윈드 오케스트라의 상임 지휘자, 조상두씨의 지휘로 열린 이번 공연은 우리 귀에 친숙하고 아름다운 클래식과 팝 그리고 국악한마당으로 꾸며졌으며 공연의 수익금은 불우이웃돕기와 오케스트라의발전기금마련에 쓰일 예정입니다.
해럴드 월터스의 Instant Concert로 막을 연 이번 공연에서는 쇼스타코비치의 교향곡 5번 4악장, 비틀즈의“Hey Jude”, 루이 암스트롱의 “Satchmo” 등 클래식과 팝을 넘나들며 다양한 명곡들을 연주해 관객들의 귀와 마음을 사로잡았습니다.
특히 이번 프로그램 사이에는 그라티아 중주단과 퓨전국악앙상블, 토론토 해사모가 찬조출연하여 모차르트 교향곡 40번과 진도아리랑 등을 선보이면서 관객들에게 다채로운 음악과 함께 감동을 선사했습니다.
공연의 마지막은 크리스마스 메들리를 연주하며 흥겨운 분위기를 연출해 관객들로부터 큰 박수갈채를 받았습니다. 토론토 아카데미 윈드오케스트라는 2010년 창단 이래 정기연주회 및 다양한 이웃 돕기 활동으로 청소년들에게 정신적 쉼터이자, 건강한 정서함양을 고취시키고 있습니다.

한편, 토론토 아카데미 윈드오케스트라는 2015년 1월 11일부터 3월 31일까지 신입단원을 모집하고 있습니다. 관심있는 분들의 많은 참여바랍니다.
The 5th annual Toronto Wind Orchestra Concert was held on December 13th at Vaughn Korean Church.
The head conductor Sang Du Cho led the concert with familiar classical, pop, and traditional Korean music and all the proceeds went to the needy.
Herald Walters’ Instant Concert opened the concert followed by Shostakovich Symphony number 5, op 4, “Hey Jude” by Beatles, “Satchmo” by Louise Armstrong, crossing and blending various genres of music.
The special guest appearances were by Gratia Duet and Toronto Haesamo who performed Mozart Number 40 and Jindo Arirang respectively, touching the audience with various musical performances.
The last number of the program was an exciting Christmas medley, which garnered lots of applause from the audience. Ever since its founding, Toronto Academy Wind Orchestra has reached out to the community and has been a an emotional anchor for many youths where you can grow.
It also provided a platform through which the youths could showcase their talents and passion.
